The Safety 1st 22448GES Car Seat is a great car seat. It has all of the features parents have come to know and love with all products from Safety 1st. This manages to combine both safety and comfort. It is a car seat that grows with the child from infant rear facing to toddler forward facing. The car seat is used rear facing with the five point harness from 5 to 35 pounds and then forward-facing 22-40 pounds. This features a 5-point harness with up front harness adjustment. It enhances parents to keep baby safe, secure and comfortable. This is certainly a feature not found on all car seats. It includes a infant head support and soft harness covers for comfort for baby. This car seat pad is removable and washable. Its removable cup holder can be used on either side of the Car Seat.

Great seats!
I’ve had this seat (2 of them) for about six months. I purchased at another site, so check around for prices. These seats were our secondary pair. Based on reviews at car-seat.org, these came highly recommended to handle tall kids based on the shoulder strap notches. I believe this seat only goes up to 40 pounds. We have used these seats with latch systems, however, the connector is not the easiest to work (compare to my True Fits, the connectors are easy like seat belt push buttons, hard to explain). We have used these seats in a small sedan and the seats and kids seem to do ok. My kids were @ 15 months or more when they got in these seats – they are long (100% height) and varies in weight (25% to 65%) – just as a reference.
There is one Con, in my opinion, and that is the chest clip. Its hard to quickly push and undo…especially if you are bent over, or in a tight space trying to get your child out of the car. My True Fits chest clip unfastens easily. This chest clip is cheasy plastic…probably safe enough, but just irritating. I’m not deducting a star because I really like the seat other that this.
I have the “Geo Squares” cover. I like it. The inner part is a slick material…maybe a polyester? I was a little nervous to get something that was velvety all over due to extreme heat where we live. It’s a nice looking cover.
We wanted another one of these seats, but could not find them at the original price point. I really like this seat and would recommend this as a primary car seat if your budget is limited.
Check with your Police/Fire Departments or Hospitals to see if someone in your area can inspect or help install your seats. It can make a world of difference.
